Travel Alert – Flights Affected by Corona Virus (COVID-19)

To contain the spread of Corona Virus (COVID-19), the Philippine government has announced the enhanced community quarantine of Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. Similar directives are also implemented across other provinces in the country. In line with this government regulation, land, air and sea travels are restricted. If you have flights from, to or within the Philippines and affected by this situation, here are the travel advisories from the major airlines operating in the Philippines and the steps that you can take.

Cebu Pacific

Advisory as of March 17, 2020 – All Cebu Pacific and CEB Go flights are cancelled from March 19 until April 14, 2020

What to do?

If you have flights between March 15 to April 14, 2020

  • Rebook – Rebook the flight valid up to June 30, 2020 travel waiving the fare difference and change fee
  • Travel Fund – Full travel fund with travel validity up to 12 months
  • Refund – Full refund, which will be made according to the mode of payment

If you have flights between April 15 to 30, 2020

  • Rebook – Rebook the flight with no limit on travel validity waiving the change fee but fare difference may apply.
  • Travel Fund – Full travel fund with travel validity up to 12 months

Philippine Airlines

Advisory as of March 17, 2020 – All domestic flights of Philippine Airlines are cancelled. The airline continues to operate international flights up to March 19, 2020

What to do?

If you have domestic flights between March 17 to April 12, 2020

  • Rebook – Rebook the flight to a new travel date, with rebooking fees waived.
  • Travel Voucher – Place the unused value of the ticket into a voucher for future travel use (for tickets issued through the PAL website, mobile app, PAL ticket office or Reservations Hotline)
  • Reroute – Reroute the ticket on the same fare class without rerouting charges. Fare difference rules apply.

If you have a ticket purchased on or before March 31, 2020

  • Rebook – Philippine Airlines is allowing one-time free rebooking for all International and Domestic tickets purchased on or before 31 March 2020. Passenger may request for free rebooking at least seven (7) days before the original flight departure date, for travel at any time within the validity of your ticket. This offering applies to all fares.

AirAsia

Advisory as of March 17, 2020 – All domestic and international flights to or from the following airports are cancelled:

  • Ninoy Aquino International Airport – until April 14, 2020
  • Clark International Airport – March 20 to April 14, 2020
  • Cebu and Kalibo – travel period to be announced

What to do?

If your flight is affected of this cancellation

  • Rebook – One-time flight change to a new travel date on the same route within 90 calendar days from the original flight date without additional cost
  • Travel Credit – Retain the value of the fare in AirAsia BIG Loyalty account for future travel with AirAsia. The online credit account is to be redeemed for booking within 365 calendar days from the issuance date for your travel with AirAsia
  • Refund – Get a full refund to your original payment method for the amount equivalent to your booking

SkyJet Airlines

Advisory as of March 13, 2020 – All domestic flights are cancelled

  • Manila to Coron and Siargao (and vice versa) – March 15 to April 14, 2020
  • Manila to Batanes (and vice versa) – March 15 to April 16, 2020

What to do?

If your flight is affected of this cancellation

  • Rebook – Rebook flight without penalties but subject to fare difference to a new travel date after April 14, 2020 for Siargao and Coron, and after April 16, 2020 for Batanes.
  • Refund – Get a full refund with waiver of refund fees.

If your flight is affected by the cancellation from the airline but you purchased the ticket through a travel agency, third party booking website or travel app, we advised to contact the agents and the travel booking company for assistance.
